World Values

World Values

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

We are doomed by our complicity.

"

World Values

Take succour in retribution

for revenge in its raw

steel, sharp edged blades

can draw enough blood

so as to drown our race.

And drown we should

for such complacency.

We watch the rape and pillage,

the displacement of Rohingya

the subjugation of the Syrian peoples

by a despot

protected by Putin's despot regime.

We witness the creation of Armageddon

in North Korea

while our politicians talk in high tones

but whisper sweet nothings

as capitalist values rule

all of the weary waves

and death and austerity and hunger

and homelessness

are the truth.
