The Garden of Illusion

The Garden of Illusion

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

My spirit and my love will be there when you walk.

"

The Garden of Illusion

As you trek from Milborne Wick

across the boggy autumn fields,

dogs in tow, a bounding and a yapping

as only happy pooches do.

As you approach Millers Hill

and stop to breathe in

the beautiful vista

of three kissing counties,

then turn for home

knowing coffee is warmed upon

the range.

Remember a heart so beautiful

as yours, a soul so deep with passion,

a mind so intricate and wise,

eyes so crystal clear and bright and

lips as full as a harvest moon,

cannot live within a hollow breast.

The trek you lay before the reader is fully dressed. From boggy autumn fields sketched in warm tones slightly muted, to doggies rushing the vista.
I love a place to ponder whither my feet carry me or words entice me there, nature inspires . You let the reader rest there a moment to see all that there is.
Then give a gentle call back home for a warm cup of comfort a well placed touch. Says I, as I hoist my own and consider your fragrant plea to repair the disconnect of a lover's soul.

I'm glad you stopped by too. I enjoyed your piece very much.
"cannot live within a hollow breast." what an unexpected turn for me John ..your title crystal clear ;)
romantic and informative (had to look up Melborne and the Mill) ... such incredible history you have in England ... all the way back to dinosaurs and more ....
alas all the romance and sensuality comes to naught without heart ...well done says i!
