Inexplicable!

Parson's Green

You left a pot of explosives,

on a tube train!

What on earth were you thinking?

How can someone so young

already have the gnarled

hate-filled gut of an old man?

Old men may have seen injustice,

tasted its bitterness,

but you don't even shave as yet.

How can you not be reviled

by the thought of the carnage

of innocent commuters,

men, women, children,

young and old,

Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Hindu, Buddhist

and atheist,

cut down by the nails and the screws

packed around your gift to humanity?

So I have no forgiveness

I hope you rot in hell!

Now,now, John. I don't think that wishing someone to rot in Hell will solve anything. Like you, I am enraged by this sort of thing happening. But I think we have to ask ourselves, why it happens. Was this young man so disaffected, or wrongly taught? had he lost all hope of humanity?
No excuse, of course, but I think he probably could have been helped. You powerful, but unforgiving, poem, could be the incentive for others to try to remedy this sort of thing. (remember also, we praise the soldiers who kill.)

I do understand your point however there are two things a t play in this piece. One poetic license to display emotion and Two the other side of this coin is that some of us do not always believe in turning the other cheek. To do so may give the message that such actions are without responsibility or consequence and they are most certainly not. If this bomb had exploded as planned there would have been carnage. Innocent (non combatants), ordinary people would have been maimed or would have died. I am not one who praises soldiers. Wars are often propaganda and we are fed by the media with the fuel of hate. Read 'The Brain Washing of Humanity' and 'World Values', two of my recent posts. Many thanks for your contribution to this debate.

Thank you, John for the points you make. I did not mean to suggest we turn the other cheek. No, what I suggested was that these disaffected young people (who have probably been told to go to hell by someone or other) get some sort of treatment to rehabilitate them. You also might be interested

Yes I see that and it is the tack taken in the UK in the 'Prevent' scheme to try to identify and divert those who might be persuaded to take such radical action. Unfortunately many are people of low intelligence or suffering from mental health problems. Far harder to deal with these individuals. Normally they have acted then been uncovered.

Thanks. I did not manage to finish the last sentence in my last comment before it disappeared off the screen.. I've now forgotten what I as going to say!!!!
I commend 'Prevent' for the work it does, but I still think it is the general public that also needs to be educated not to marginalise people. Some people today still think that mentally ill people, 'have the devil in them'! And immigrants and people of different faiths, still get a lot of abuse. As I said, in no way do I condone violent actions, but I think I can see why some of these people do these things. But, we don't live in a perfect world, is still the survival of the fittest!
