What world do we exist in?

Mind the Gap

We fall so easily

for media hype,

false news,

anything politicians say

to make us feel less secure

and justify unjust actions.

We fall in love

with reality TV,

soap opera,

the celebrity culture,

our chosen sport,

the latest movie,

the a la mode trend.

All to hide our stress,

our distress

at the realities of life,

at our powerlessness

to right the wrongs

of a humanity

that has sold its soul

to the fast food,

catchphrase,

sound-bite,

instantaneous gratification,

internet savvy society

that we have become.
