UnrequitedA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenWhen elusive is all that is real.Unrequited Your heart has lain upon so many pages. Vellum parchment, soaked in the sweat of intended courtship against a high wall. The halo light shining through breaths taken as frost catches lungs and whispers become a distant echo beneath halogen induced shadows. When I was single you ignored me. When I was not hope was given. When I shouted you shut me out. When I whispered you blew smoke in my eyes. Frailty has made you fickle, held you fast in no man's land. A wisp of perfumed air who appears at sunset in visions of romantic bliss only to be blown to the heavens by mornings soft breeze. Only memories now left for me to savour. 09/10/17 © 2017 John Alexander McFadyenReviews
