In The Name Of God

In The Name Of God

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Who decides?

"

In The Name Of God

I am butchered

by an angel.

One who would

draw me into the pen,

take me into their trust

then slice my throat

with a keen blade,

sacrifice me,

'Bismillah',

allowing my warm blood

to spill,

to flow,

to bleed out

upon the cold, white slab of doubt.

You question many things in the poem. I have asked them often in my life. Thank you John for sharing the outstanding poetry.

took this in a whole other way until i looked up Bismillah .... its a wonderment mankind can be so smug in its "religion" and so barbarous in its acts .. i was raised a Catholic and when we studied the Inquisition i was marked forever with that cruelty ..and bewilderment as to how it could have occurred ..and the Salem witch murders ... the Holocaust ..and in these days the beheading on film...burning alive all in that name ..so grateful for my hope in the face of such darkness ... and on another level that angel ..also known as the father of lies ... spells slyly cast on ones very heart and soul ..always to create doubt .. always to destroy .. great poem ..as you can tell...you got me going this morning ... reminding me to be aware and cautious ... this has not been and remains a dangerous world along with all the beauty

Short yet so powerful, great choice of words here.

nice metaphor used to describe the process...and sometimes it does seem that we get our hearts sliced in order to bleed upon the page.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
