Writing Beneath A Rock

Writing Beneath A Rock

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

We all write because we love it and would like to think we are good enough!

"

Living in the void

between earths

I have so many filled pages

that the ink has wandered

through osmosis, to be diluted

in the ether of forgotten time.

The words hang threadbare

in the cloud

and simply degenerate in the bowels

of my laptop.

The seeds I sow

appear to fall

upon fallow earth,

and despite their healthy DNA

they fail to germinate,

simply wither in the ground.

Bitter tears wash the pain

and the sin and the regret,

the joys and all my memories

into an ocean of mediocrity and mindless,

meaningless, anonymity.

Mindless, meaning anonimity? No!
Perhaps it is the mind, the heart and eyes that have grown weary, but the words and their beauty remain, even in those moments of darkness.
Superb write.

Thanks Lorry; was thinking about Leslie Philibert, an amazing poet who cannot get published!
much self-deprecation here especially with the lines..."and simply degenerate in the bowels of my laptop..."

but i think the most humble poets are often the best...their words speak for themselves..and yours do that.
but i know the feeling...there are time i just want to set fire to everything i ever wrote...i think it is crap...at other times i look at it and say to myself.." i wrote that? mmm it's not too bad"

we are definitely our own worst critics.

I’m not sure about that but I give it a try. Many thanks for your kind words John.
I feel ya on this one buddy, there are thousands of buds growing in all of our minds and sadly, too many of them will never see the light required to nourish them. Wonderfully worded, innovative, and introspective. Post as much as you can, keep the flame burning!!

Osmosis of us cannot be stopped. We move and roll till one day. We forget who we are. Thank you John for sharing the outstanding poetry.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
