Saturation Point

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Tis a fact lol!

"

There are poets at every corner of the earth.

They sit at their keyboards bowed earnestly

in supplication to the god of words,

hoping to rearrange universal languages

into meaningful, intelligent shapes.

They drink copious cups of tea, coffee,

beer, gin or whisky to simply aid the flow.

At times they sit and stare blankly,

as if dead eyed, starved of ambition.

At others their manic script flies

in foaming mouthed utterances

from over stimulated neurons,

through urgent fingers

and onto virgin pages.

They burn the midnight oil,

suffer insomnia and/or rise before dawn

to fire up phones, tablets or laptops.

Such bards used to be scarce,

limited to those who could read or write,

those who had a quill and ink

and no real need to toil from dawn until dusk.

On the internet today

there are more poets than people on the earth

and more poems than stars in the universe.

So true, the word geniuses are everywhere.
Though I must admit, I can only write when something happens, usually involving someone having a mishap, or talking about someone having a mishap.

Hey I hardly get past 3! Cheap date!
How right you are John. There are poets everywhere on the Internet, but I'd rather that than no poets at all. You describe well the characteristics of a poet. Burning the midnight oil and lack of sleep being my number one problem. Great write.

Jacob of course is well published and is a great poet. Sadly I don't know Leslie Philbert. Perhaps I.. read more

You need to read some of Leslie's work, just search for him by name.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
