We took the blows.

the impacts,

the onslaught

and it made us

tough,

hard as rock,

tens of kilometres thick.

Superheated impact magma

formed us,

crusted over

hardened and left

a silica-rich composition.

Giant melt sheets gave relief,

shaped the landscape

from hot lava

and layered

this our world whose

occupants now rape it

of its resources

and bleed it dry.
