OriginA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenAs it says on the tin. Written while reading the book by the same name by Dan Brown. We are here on earth not through some godly action, but because the nature of the universe dictates that chaos and entropy be punctuated by order, by structures that more efficiently dissipate energy. We are part of the wider purpose of spreading the force of the 'big bang, softening its effect, slowing its seemingly infinite progress. And we, like it or not efficiently dissipate energy, much like a tree, or a tornado, or ripples in a river bed. Or the sun's energy focussed upon soil heating it until the germination of a plant which spreads the heat. The primordial soup, from which we sprang, was cooked for millions of years until DNA grew and we slowly evolved. Thus the evolution that Darwin saw will take us ever closer to increasing our efficiency. Change us unendingly along the way with no help from any maker, until we are robotic in our very nature. 13/02/19 © 2019 John Alexander McFadyenAuthor's NoteReviews
