Universal Truth

Universal Truth

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

We die but we will still exist.

"

Conception has left me nothing

but the prospect of a cold dark

death.

There is some small comfort

in knowing my atoms

will scatter across the earth

and become anew.

Become god particles

whose  super-symmetry,

or partner particles,

stabilize the universe,

as we become recycled

for another purpose.

So I will still exist

but will know nothing of it.

My reflection will disappear

and I will have no voice,

no sense of smell or taste,

no eyes to see the planet

as I now do,

and no mind to struggle

with the arguments

of those religious

zealots and these creationists.

Yunno there is a children's book called "Death, Duck and the Tulip" that I truly love (and I feel it's a great book for getting children acquainted with the concept, and the stark realities of death.) There is a line in the book that says, "when you die, the pond will be gone too, at least for you." It may seem like a nihilist view on life, and perhaps it is, but I agree, even if we change into cosmic dust or whatever, "we" as we are now, won't be there to experience anything. The truth is when we close our eyes, the world is snuffed out too.

I agree. We should teach children not to fear death and it should not be taboo. Death and taxes and .. read more
Isn't it difficult to contemplate nothingness? An interesting write John. Like Lorry I would be content to be a bit of cosmic dust. Yes, that would suit me fine. On a lighter note I am a big fan of Vangelis.

Interesting write John. Time and age has taken the guess work out of mankind looking back through the billions of years, and our evolution of man. I often wonder what we would think ,if we did not have this information on hand probably more religious fanatics no doubt and those selling bottles , the elixir of life.
there is a book called the logic of being by Livingston. A very good but expensive book.

Livingston, another Scot! Yes but watch out for the Higgs Bosun bubble! Cheers Andrew.
Conception is the beginning of our slow decay, to us! Elswhere, the universe hasn't even blinked, as we become cosmic dust, in the great recycling, that our oceans are all the evidence we need that we haven't yet managed in the microscopic scale of us.
I think if the tiniest particle of cosmic dust floating through nothingness, that is future lorry could smile, it will be a contented piece of cosmic dist, with a cheshire cat grin.

Entropy is king. Thanks Lorry.
an interesting look at creationism vs. evolutionism...
and the idea of being recycled rather than using the term reincarnation...
maybe a much simpler life...having no latitude or longitude to think...

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
