A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Why is it we let ourselves be pushed and bullied as we watch atrocities and injustice unfold?

"

Like gloved hands,

pins and needles

make fingers feel

too clumsy

to sow with needle and thread.

Through the eye

one needs to see

the shape of things

to come,

but come what may

we are simply

powerless,

inept,

sad and disinterested,

or worse afraid!

We defer to our 'leaders',

some admittedly exert their hold

with iron fists,

but mostly

they drag us to the precipice

through our own

detachment,

our own selfish indifference

disguised as trust.

And their intransigence,

their narrow minded,

power and party before people

attitudes,

drag us to our doom.

The sad part my friend. We vote them in. I didn't vote for Trump. He didn't lie. He is doing what he said he would do. No clean leaders, take millions to win a election. New world led by money. Some wise man said many years ago. Less Politicians. Don't need four levels of leadership. Here in Michigan. City, county, state and federal. Doing the same things. Four payment for what?? Powerful words shared John.

You are welcome John.
Powerful poem with a good message. We really should raise our voices against injustice for both ourselves and others. Being quiet and tolerable not just give a image of us being coward but also gives the bullies a right to bully us more often. Nice work 👍

You're welcome !
Power and party before people is sadly what we have in many cases at the moment. Many are facing deselection and rightly so. They are elected by the people, paid by the people, are the people's servants and should deliver on what they were elected to do and not their own self serving agendas. Politics in the UK is about to make a seismic shift I think and I will be backing it. And then there are the atrocities and injustices and it is all part of the same thing. It's world wide not just the UK. My mind wandered this morning John as I read your lines Have a good weekend.

:)) ............
interesting parallel to here in the states...as the old Steppenwolf song Monster expressed..." and now our vote is a meaningless joke"----our leaders our two parties, they have their own agendas...and they just keep fighting each other with little consideration to serve the people they are elected to serve.
so sad.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
