Suffocation

Suffocation

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

We all have a secret self.

"

I tell you about my fear of the dark,

but I am the dark.

I tell you of my fear of heights

but I am as high as you will

never reach.

Here inside is a cavernous space,

so vast it could swallow

this universe and the next,

and you.

Inside there is no compassion,

only regret and anger and hurt.

There I fester in a murky

primordial soup that clogs

arteries and steals the air

from younger lungs,

leaving pure, real hearts

struggling to breathe.

So do not be deceived

by a smile, by a kindly word

or a wayward glance.

For in this world,

in this gloomy space,

nothing can survive.

and yet something does survive...the poetic self just keeps breathing words onto a page.
even when all other signs of life seem to be on interrupted.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
