Acceptance and Resolution

Acceptance and Resolution

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Sad Times

"

You said you'd never leave

and I believed

in you.

You said there'd be no pain

but let me explain,

how much it hurts.

So here I sit, alone

now you've gone

for ever.

Life will never be the same,

who should I turn to, who should I blame

for this sadness?

Once I held belief in romance

but now we've missed that chance

I have none.

If ever I could turn back clocks,

take back all those knocks

this would be the time.

But for now I confess

I must acquiesce

to fate.

A very good portrayal of a universal theme. Your words are heartfelt and deep and allow the reader to strongly empathise.

Many thank yous for reading and reviewing.
acceptance not an easy road to travel but leads to resolution. sad but your ending is hopeful. we cannot hold onto what is not meant to be. we must move on and see what else it holds for us ... :)

Indeed so Pete. There is little else to choose. many thanks for reading and responding.
A universal theme here. Breakups cause immense pain, especially for the one left behind. You have conveyed that pain realistically in your lines.

I think most of us have worn that badge!
Nice words
But a sad story they tell

Always sad when a relationship breaks up
As it has been said

Pick yourself up]
Brush yourself down
And start over again

Hard to do sometimes

Good writing, John. Collectively, your work is like a kaleidoscopic walk through LIFE.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
