My StoryA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenThere's a book on the shelf I've been meaning to read, Its so full of hurt that a true heart might bleed to death on its pages. I took it down once, opened it wide tried hard to focus on what was inside, but brutalities words, all painted in black, made me draw breath, took me aback, at the pain any human could inflict on their own. Across every line were the stains of his tears, spilled as he wrote down the torture and fears he had faced. And I hadn't the courage to keep reading on as this unique individual, somebody's son, turned into a man. So I closed the damned volume placed it high as I could at the top of the bookcase so that I never would have to read it again. 06/04/19 © 2019 John Alexander McFadyenAuthor's NoteReviews
