On The Edge Of Singularity

On The Edge Of Singularity

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Life can be cruel!

"

It is not often we find

heaven on earth,

but frequently,

when we do,

it is held from us

by iron chains.

Thick limestone walls

of mistrust

thrown up by the architects

of pain.

There is a gaping chasm

between us,

a valley so deep

I can only stare

into that void.

And all the bridges

that have ever been built

to span the space

keeping us apart,

have been relentlessly

bombed to destruction

by the enemy.

And you,

you own that foe,

for that foe

is the fear

that guides

your wings.

Your opening lines set the tone for my own memories ...and they took over your narrative without missing a single beat.

Thank you so much Chris.
You are definitely a very talented writer. I love the way you use your words. That was my attempt on Hearts That Never Mend...but THIS is the true example of what i'd like to be able to do. Excellent job

John,
You are so right . . . fear is the enemy of love, understanding, compassion. Like your imagery here. very concrete. There are many out there in their own blackness who find great satisfaction (or what they think is satisfaction) in destroying whatever meaningful relationships, agreements, treaties, partnerships
people can manage to put together. Their fear drives them to do evil things. I pity them and my prayers go out for them. An interesting write my friend. By the way . . . like the title . . . it's very . . . ?

Sorry to hear that John . . . can certainly relate.

Heaven on earth? Must be a mirage. I've bombed a few bridges in my time. That's what you do when you can't trust. Trust takes an age to build and two minutes to smash. A poem with depth and darkness.

That sounds like some kind of Freudian thing, should check out Jung, less sexually overt, lol.
we often fear what we don't understand. and sometimes fear who we don't understand or want to.
miscommunication is the key to misstep in relating to others.
trust and friendship are becoming extinct...we are our own worst enemy in this respect.
