Boiled Bird

Boiled Bird

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Silly Sunday!

"

Casserole a cassowary,

cook it in some soup,

of pigeon pie we have nary

nor a chicken coup.

So take that big boy

bird and put him in the pot,

stir and add some soy

to it, and cook it till it's hot.

Put it on a platter,

serve it with white rice

a glass of wine will flatter

and wash it down right nice.

I love how this piece is both funny and dark at the same time. I'm quite convinced you can write about literally anything and make it sound good!

I am humbled as I wilt in the shadow of many excellent poets in the Cafe. Many thank yous.
A crisp and very fun poem to read John. Appreciated the rhyming. The bird looks fierce and unfamiliar. Quite daunting to think of it in a stew :)

Thank you HBR, glad you enjoyed it.
Lol too cute I like a little rhyme a seasoned with humor.
I've never had squab but I'd think a sweet white wine would wash it down alright.

Indeed those fuckers make that guy Lecter look tame!
You'd need one heck of a pot to cook it in John and being a very wary bird you would have to make sure that you cooked properly so it didn't pop up and bite you. I'd stick to chicken if I were you. Lol. Loved the write John.
