The starkness of winter means that you can see further. All those exposed limbs, leafless and cold. And then comes spring in her lovely new dress, blocking out your view. I don:t mind being isolated in my garden, happy not to wonder what is going on elsewhere. Spring has always been my favourite season. A nice visual piece of free verse.

You are welcome. Keep the outside on the outside I say :)
Interesting perspective. The spring landscape bringing on the sense of isolation. I haven’t thought of it that way, but, I suppose, like Robert Frost’s wall, the hedge can be a symbol of our sometime insular natures.
I like the way the poem takes an opposite approach to what is expected and kind of looks back wistfully at the blank canvas of winter which seems to carry the suggestion of possibility. There’s definitely truth in that.
I like the juxtapositions here. The heart seemingly reaching in two directions at once. Enjoyable poetry.

I have a view over our back garden from my computer desk and in winter I have a long view over fields and can see a neighbour's house and the coming and going of other neighbours. Now the ghedge has bushed out, and the garden is lovely I can't see beyond the bush. Maybe I am simply nosey! Many thanks Eilis.
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
