I Was Never Crazy

I Was Never Crazy

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Avatar-The Silent Couple and the Volcano Eruption-Andrajs Bovtovics

"

On my own

there was calm,

in tepid

still waters

I swam.

By myself

still life

was instilled,

a painting

in oils,

so still.

Now I grieve

for those days,

as I feel

so unfulfilled

in the shadow

of tainted love,

where we

both lie

in the cacophony

of our silence.

The turmoil is beautifully captured in a seemingly poignant piece. Though there is a wisp of regret, I believe that wisp is what makes this piece so wonderfully human.

I like the inherent tension of this seemingly placid piece.

Thank you so much Aurora.
Sometimes a person is better off alone than in a bad relationship. When the silence is deafening you know it's time for a change. Well written, John. Lydi**

LOLOL laughing here!
I do understand this poem. If I could go back in time. More travel and more time making love, less time trying to make money for other people. Old age make us reflex on things we didn't do. Thank you John for sharing the excellent poetry and your thoughts.

I enjoyed this poem and you are welcome John.
A man alone missing love, a man in love missing alone, a cacophony of silence is a noisy beast indeed, great read,

Indeed a dilemma that can feel like being caged. Many thanks Gram.
Feels both poignant and lonely. Not a good place to be. Katie's song a delight. People can drive you crazy at times.

Indeed never a good place to be Chris. Katie and Diana Krall are delightful to mention but two. Than.. read more
I truly enjoyed the juxtaposition of title with piece. The title cries out, while the piece is sadly thoughtful.

Many thanks Lyn. So many people experience such distant relationships.
Nothing is so deafening as the silence between two once-loves. I’d rather sat alone in my own breaths. Raw and touching words, sir.

Thank you R. E. I totally agree with you.
Relating strongly with this piece John....after the fact that one can be lonely in a crowded room, of course!

Indeed one can Kitty, and in a relationship where silences can be passive agression. Many thanks.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
