Vultures

Vultures

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

The press killed Diana, Princes of Wales, Mother to Prince Harry, as they pursued her through Paris.

"

The royal baby

slips dignified

into the world.

Parents keep secrets,

hold fast

a noble, loving

stance.

Until the hacks arrive

and the rolling news

and tumbling

saturated pages,

denigrate

and embarrass

in their

overly gleeful

undignified

speculation,

inane banter

and preposterously,

overly overt

homage.

In their incessant

drive to capture

every word,

every photograph

they intrude,

dominate,

use 'poetic' licence

and simply fill

the broadsheets and airwaves

with dross.

Have they learned

nothing?

A dead mother, now

posthumous grandmother,

their legacy,

and it seems

it now stands

for nothing.

Paparazzi know no boundaries. They will do anything and everything to get that story or that footage. They are a breed of their own. It sickens me the way they do their business. Remembering the lovely Princess of Wales as I write this response. Good morning John.

Exactly right Cherrie. many thanks.
Sadly, they pursue celebrities and royals because millions buy the garbage they write. It seems a vicious cycle. You’ve captured well the tragedy some call “journalism.”
