Passing

Passing

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Don't waste a second!

"

Time has no conscience,

it sheds not a tear for us

as we slip away.

I love it how you presented Time as constant and us slipping away. Very interesting and quite a change, I must say. Thank you.

In poetry time (between shaman and rainfall) i'de like to think that each word written makes a mark in a stone somewhere. I left a book of poems on the bench on the river walk in Detroit and when I went back to get it, it was gone. Then I thought of how powerful and delicate someone's life had become; how some heart might be moved or how some hardened righteousness, resolved. If time wasn't people then why keep track of it in the first place. May as well just sit and pretend mercy or meaningfulness. And if in the end no one still cares, then so be it.....great poem....dana

I think the more one muses on muses the less minutes one has. Many thanks BB.
...and yet we struggle to hold onto it. We need it in our lives - but there will never be enough. Wishing you a good day, John!

Life will be the death of us, someday. I've decided I will not go quietly into the night!
That's true.
Time isn't nice,
It counts away quickly,
Leaving everything behind,
Having regards for nobody.
You live or you die,
That's none of its business,
So greedy about it own count,
Only cares about its own existence.

Indeed so Kay, indeed so. Thanks for stopping by.
Hi, John!
TIME, the great illusion.
If we say, "past" it no longer exists, "presence" disappears as it is spoken, and "future" does not yet exist.
Past, present, future, all but figments of imagination; illusion derived by a manmade system created to measure one's existence and movements, but it's not as though we would cease to exist without its notion.
As is the invention of language, we can no longer even think without its use, and without the idea of "time" we would not function; or, so it seems.
Perfect picture choice and music, BTW.

I've read senryus and Senryus, John, but this is a "great" SENRYU!
Now, it will haunt me all day … thank you for the stir, My Friend! ⁓ Richard 🍃

Indeed so Leslie. Hope everything is Ok? Many thanks for reading and commenting.
Ah . . . the mystery of time! though not a person, or even a living thing, it has such a hold on us. How can such an esoteric reality have such power? Often it resembles the wind . . . felt but never seen as itself. Time . . . the great humbler of man.

Strong senryu here. Time has no emotion it just passes with ease Too much ease. We should be mindful not to waste the time we have. Once gone it can't be retrieved. Like water under the bridge. This little write creates much thought. I enjoyed that.
