Know it well John . . . as one of my sons-in-law is an alcoholic. Indeed this addiction is a hell of a devil!!

Yes John. I'm up for it! Guinness for me. Seriously now, it can be the easy option. - - but what about the Guinness.? What kind of cafe is this?
Cheers,

Being a tad-bit of a control nut I have never wanted to loose myself in a vice that way (well writing might count in this scenario) not that I don't enjoy a good bourbon,
but I have a son and it took him 10years, a broken jaw, leg and a broken back ( that he mostly recovered from thank goodness) to say I need more, drinking will kill me if I go on this way. Addictions are a sad waste of a life.
That imprisonment is a terrible thing and you have summed up in the base form and served it up neat.

Alcohol in excess has many faces I guess and we all know people from both ends of the spectrum. Those whose drinking ruins their lives and the lives of those around them and those who seem able to keep up appearances despite the drinking to excess. Many thanks for such a considered review Cherrie.

Last 2years he has been doing good I guess time will tell the rest.
Sums up one of my best friends who de stresses by getting absolutely bladdered. He quite openly admits that with enough money he would happily be an alcoholic. Me and the drink don't mix much these days, can't be doing with hangovers.
Hope you are well John.

Who would have thought aging has its benefits lol. I could quite happilly move to a warmer climate to read and write for hours with a glass of wine or beer on hand. Aye all is good off to Latvia and Lithuania for a holiday if my missus is fit enough by Friday. Keep on keeping on Gee!
Very concisely put, but captures the truth. For some, the quickest relief for pain of any type of pain is the
''friendly creature.'' Unfortunately, the numb is not the end of the pain, and a renewal of the process is required.
You have just brought in to my living room my brother in law. Stuart from over the border. I love him but he does not love any of us nearly as much as he loves his drink. He will always be a slave to it.. Clever senryu.

Sad to be a slave to it. I like my beer but am no slave to it. Many thanks Chris.

Same here with red vino. Moderation is fine. Good morning John.
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
