Between The SheetsA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenSo much more than sleep itself! As a child I often
sought the comfort of the
blanket over my head to ward off the shadow
creatures that stalked the nights. Throughout my lifetime that refuge has remained a safe
haven. A place to
slip into the
numbing medium of
sleep, if ill or troubled. And indeed there has
been no just
sleep as
fulfilling as the sleep just after. When two
people have given
their all, skin to skin until
exhausted and deeply
sated then fallen into a warm sweat-soaked
tangle of Egyptian
cotton for the most serene and
sensual slumber. 24/06/19 © 2019 John Alexander McFadyenAuthor's Note |
