Intrepid

Intrepid

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Think what lies out there beyond this 'flat' earth!

"

Lurking

in the shadows

is guilt,

the kind

that is indeed

original.

Hiding

in the shade

is the image

of a saviour,

a god

who both tests

and loves man.

Peering

through the gloom

are believers

who accept

the impossible,

the unproven,

the ridiculous,

as their dread

of death

makes them cling

to any flotsam

of faith

they can find.

Staring

into the darkness

of the abyss

of hell,

are those

so weak

and fearful

of their own

mortality,

that they

must believe

they will

live on,

flesh and blood

immortals

with such

patently

false belief.

Standing

on the mountain

looking at the stars

is a man,

a man without

fear,

a man who sees

the universe

and longs

to be a sailor

swashbuckling

among the planets,

exploring

the real

meaning

of life,

and

not afraid

of death.

unless we believe there is something after this mortal life, we are destined to fall off the earth sooner or later..there is no roundness to our globe...just a finite ending...and not necessarily a good one.
thoughtful write to ponder.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
