To Andy/The Magnificence of Birth

To Andy/The Magnificence of Birth

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

My mother wrote poetry for herself. I came across it and it inspired me to write. Her writing was lost when she died and her property was disposed of by my brother. These two are all thats left.

"

There are little eyes upon you

And they are watching night and day.

There are little ears that quickly

Take in every word you say.

There are little hands all eager

To do everything you do,

And a little boy who's dreaming

Of the day he'll be like you.

You're the little fellows idol,

You are the wisest of the wise,

In his little mind about you

No suspicions ever rise.

You are setting an example

Every-day in all you do,

For the little boy who's waiting

To grow up to be like you.

Hush, he knows me,

What a smile he shows me,

We live at his command

And kiss the gentle hand

Of His Majesty "The Baby".

Ladies stand in waiting,

Here comes "The King" make way,

They all stand there debating

What will "His Highness" say!

Look, he knows me,

What a smile he shows me,

We live at his command

And kiss the gentle hand

Of His Majesty "The Baby".

An extra-special treat! I especially love the first one. I love it when some of my favorite writers post things from their history, especially writing from those long-gone. I have some very precious stories from my family & I've shared some, too. So I can only imagine how precious these are to you, especially since the rest were trashed. The flame of eloquent expression burns on in you! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you for reading Cherrie.
So pleased Jacob suggested you post these two poems that your Mother wrote. Such a terrible shame John, that the others were disposed of. Breaks your heart doesn't it? While poetry is everything to some of us, it means little to others. I can clearly see where your talent comes from. Your Mother's poetry flows so well. Wonderful rhythm and rhyme. Thank you for sharing her talent with us. I can imagine just how precious these are to you.

I can see where your gift came from....in the first i see a son mimicking his father...wanting to be just like him...there were qualities in mine i wanted to duplicate, as well...in the second...a mother having premonitions of just how loved her son would be in future...
both poems are so heartfelt and beautifully worded.
thanks for sharing...
