Beyond Belief

Beyond Belief

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

As it says on the tin!

"

Stained glass

and cold stone haunt

as incense billows

in blue grey wisps

filling senses,

overpowering

weak faith

and choking

out truth.

A steeple rises

out of the earth,

pointing

to the heavens,

where false

promises

of salvation

echo

into an empty

sky.

What wrongs,

what destruction

and suffering

has the cross

metered out

under the guise

of duty

to the cloth.

Awaken

to the power

of lies.

Listen to the wind

rustle in the trees,

wonder at the stars

sparkling

in the real heavens

and know that

we are more than

this.

how some use faith, beliefs, aspects of religion to do harm and call it God's will...
so sad...the "steeple rises" makes me think of Emily's poem "because i could not stop for death"
"the cornice scarcely visible" like religion was to her...scarcely visible.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
