FractureA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenLife is a challenge as we try to follow our instincts but are held fast in the grip of social control.Opening the cracks in the pavement I slide into gear, smoothly slipping between the bars of the prison my mind and society has wrapped around my every move, around my every thought. I stand up to be counted but like confetti I am caught up in the wind of change as it billows and blows in eddies of hot air surrounding me, my heart and my soul in the wet paper and the dark stains of Catholic guilt. There I boil and seethe, rail against the false constructs perpetuated by the controllers, the money men, the politicians, and the corrupt priests. I slip between the sheets hoping to meet your skin, hoping our deliverance will be long, indulgent and merciful. Knowing I would know all of you, intimately as we both fall between the cracks. As we both give, knowing it is what we want but cannot have. 14/08/19 © 2019 John Alexander McFadyenAuthor's NoteReviews
