Predator

Predator

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

There are some things we should fear!

"

There is a shadow

moving through water.

You cannot see it,

for it is just a shadow

and yet the fear in you

is sharper

than the sharpest

blade.

The sea is clear blue,

the sun hot and high

on life,

as that grey shape

meanders,

in and out

and across the shoreline.

It hides in it's smooth

and swift glide,

barely rippling

calm water,

and lays shaded by

the solar glare,

reflecting back

into the heavens,

so that it may

pursue

it's dark work

unseen.

It has no fear

for fear has not

stained its genes

and it knows

there is no

match on earth

for its savage

hunger.

Indeed but they use stealth so well Tom. Many thanks for reading.
Predator... I like the title so much well as it's well fitted with the body.

Predators are always invisible. Nobody knows when they'll strike. Even though, it'll be a luck to even see their shadows. They tend to be swifter, smarter and stronger.
They ge attack their prey.
They would pretend be the most silent, the most gentle but Right inside them, they're devising the best way to attack.

So are they among human.
No one knows who is prey or predator.

Love your take on this one Kay and very much the image I was attempting to convey. Many thanks.

Always my pleasure... John.
It's pretty sad because sharks don't tend to attack humans, and when they do it's simply because they mistake us for their actual dinner lol. I personally think they are beautiful and strange creatures that deserve our respect and understanding more than our fear. Nevertheless, I won't go too deep into the water, you know, just in case! lol

i don`t blame you ,that`s what pools are for
You just brought back the fear I experienced when I first watched Jaws. The fear of not knowing what you are dealing with. Wouldn't want to risk swimming anywhere where sharks are known to hang about :) There's human sharks too and they live out of water :) Your fourth stanza exceptionally good. Fabulous free verse. Good morning John.

I can only speak for me, but remember yesterday was a bank holiday in the States :)
your poem nails it ...especially the Great Whites .. i remember when the first "Jaws" came out and my wife and I watched it at the movie theatre ... a real one with a big screen, a second feature and cartoons .. like the old days .. i screamed like a little girl when that head dropped down from the overturned boat .. my wife laughed ... at me ;} God bless her

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
