Dancing Ken

Dancing Ken

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Inspired by Dancing Barbie from Kay. A Filipino Tangata [ uses the 7777 syllable count, but rhymes range from dual rhyme forms: AABB, ABAB, ABBA; to freestyle forms such as AAAB, BAAA, or ABCD.

"

Ken dances to Barbie's tune

hoping she won't be his ruin.

She has always been the best,

laying other dolls to rest.

Action Man and GI Joe,

Ken tells them both where to go,

doesn't care to be their pal,

he's the one who's got THE gal.

First, let me say your talent is a given. I was delighted you wrote a poem in response to Kay's poem ( which I loved).
Now, let me add I laughed out loud your well balanced super 7 jackpot hit the spot.

Indeed he has got the girl but can he afford to keep her in all those outfits? lol, cheers Ron.
This is great!
I love your style, John.
I wish I could know that rhyming system too.
I wonder what kind of feelings Ken has for his Barbie. I guess he's charmed; mesmerized by the hypnotic tune.
What a pity, I wish he wake up from his illusion; a dream in the realities.

Well penned, John.

As I said Kay we learn from one another and share and grow together. Have a great day.
Truly admire (and somewhat envy) your ability to hit the mark with this form. And, can't help but think Barbie is the ultimate feminist dilemma, a dominant partner who has marketed her beauty, reality be damned. And, is Ken or Barbie the true patsy? Remarkable work sir. ;)

I am truly humbled by your review as this is my first attempt at the Tangata. Many thanks.
nicely done...and the human side of it emerges from this piece....
we sometimes act just like dolls...and maybe pretend is what we are all doing.

Indeed Jacob. I always had the hots for Barbie lol! Many thanks.
ahahaha i so love this light hearted fun poem :))))))))) almost wish i had a Ken doll ... me and the boys use to think he was kind of ...well ... gay .. we did not treat gay well in those days ... one had to tell the GI Joes to go to hell and maybe even have to punch it out after school .. in a way they were simpler times .. only the worst of the "guys" carried knives .. and most of those didn't usually go to school .. they hung out down town ... they were the "Down Town Boys" :))))))))))))))))))) great offering sir .. glad you shared it

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
