Keeping Faith

Keeping Faith

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Often life is not straight forward.

"

I never had the time

to listen to your cause,

life it seems does not have

the space for any pause.

and thus the daily grind

does summons us to 'prayer'

but keeps us in its grasp

held deep within it's lair.

And though we may resist

and try to rise above

it forces us to ground

and keeps us far from love.

But deep down in my soul

I know this is not right

forever I have known

I have to win this fight.

Tis here I make my stand,

upon this hallowed ground

knowing that this love, is

the best that can be found.

Time can get rough but life moves on and survives on.
Keeping Faith - as I read it, faith in God, faith in love, faith in winning over our struggles, to beat the rut and come out in all colors. Well written John, could read your tryst and thoughts all the way in the poem.

The above lines are true. If we didn't know love. What would we be? Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I enjoyed the poem and you are welcome John.
Matthew 22:36-40 "36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
most Americans live in the grind ... somewhere between daily to quarterly struggling .. we are kept there as "Keeping Faith" tells us .. its the line that most strikes me, John ... we do try to "rise above" .. and struggle most assuredly drives us to prayer...tho some would deny it .. our own resources simply don't cover the whole of who we are when it is all put to test .. i am inspired and blessed by your closing on the one thing that is all important and healing ...love :) well done .. very inspired by this one ..thanks for sharing

Thank you 'E'. You get it and live it. I guess my own faith is in us as individuals who live and die.. read more

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
