Proposal

"

My life to date,

such cruel fate

as insincerity

doth so prevail,

to tell this tale

of dark uncertainty.

Now here I stand

with cap in hand

far from true contentment,

my life's a mess

I think it best

to avoid resentment.

And thus must I

at least but try

to straighten out my life,

so with you dear

the path is clear,

if you would be my wife.

Very well done, John ✍

But, with your skill level (though, pleasantly surprised), I should have expected as much.
Composed in one of my original forms, I'm truly honored by your excellent effort, highlighted by spot-on rhymes, easy flow of syntax, vivid imagery, and in the stages of progression from downtrodden to humble confessor; then, onward in a show of sincerity and humility, by professing your honorable intent in a romanic, one-kneed proposal in an irresistible setting to the "one" who will make it all turn out perfectly … and, your poetic voice speaks the tale with true bardic poise. Love the "doth" bit of Shakespearean verbiage. : )
Your splendid taste in photo choice and music tie it all up into a lovely gift for your fans; plus, who doesn't cherish a happy ending … 'cause, after reciting this gorgeous poem to her, I'm sure she said, "Yes!"

A most brilliant first effort, My Friend … thank you sincerely for the honorable blessing! ⁓ Richard 🍃
