I Am Still Here!

I Am Still Here!

A Poem by Dara

I am the sunlight on your face

the wind in your hair,

 the waves at your feet

as you walk along the shore.

I embrace you each night

before you go to sleep

in your dreams that you dream

forever, my Sweet.

I will be with you always,

the love is still there

just look in your heart

and I will appear.

Dara
Reflecting on the lingering presence of a loved one after they are gone. I had posted it earlier using a different title but decided to make a few changes.

Beautifully penned Dara, reminds me a lot of Elizabeth's Fraye's equally touching, heart-rendering poem ' Do not stand at my grave and weep' ....

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Thank you very much. It came from a very deep place, emotionally. That is what I love about poetry.

Very nicely written Dara, oh what a heart telling piece you have written straight from the heart. It has a different perspective from the one that has departed.

Yes, unknown to our flesh and blood, but our souls suspect and our dreams reveal that they are still with us.
Another lovely tribute to one much loved, dear poet.
