Jesse, My SonA Poem by DaraSentimental musing on Mother’s Day.
We named you Jesse James.
Your father Jim’s sense of humor, subtle and endearing naming part of you after himself and the outlaw/Robin Hood from the Wild west. A name that means ‘gift from God’ which doesn’t surprise me since I carried this image of you in my mind for nine months. A little red headed boy, stocky of build with creamy white skin already hinting of the many freckles you would soon have. It was if God Himself had answered my prayers for a baby boy, a carbon copy of his dad of Irish descent. While I would have been just as thrilled with a little girl, in my mind I always imagined a little copper headed boy. And what a gift you have been to me all these years. I often tell myself of the mistakes I have made in my life, you were the ONE thing I managed to get right. I love you more than words can say. I hope one day, if you read this after I am gone, you will know in your heart I was right and carry my love with you always wherever you may go. © 2025 DaraReviews
