Tyre Tracks in the Snow

Tyre Tracks in the Snow

A Poem by Dara
"

I am reposting a poem I wrote in collaboration with my friend Paul from Australia. It is in reference to the many trips I Iovingly took to babysit my grandson who lives 30 miles away.

"
No snow overnight
my tyre tracks still visible
marking my daily
journey of love.

He's such a joy.
He brings love freshly formed
his heart a well of renewal
my heart is nourished.

Like a warm summer's day
 his smile and spontaneous laughter
replace the chill of a cold
calculating world.

His blues eyes revealing
wide-eyed innocence and wonder....
what has come before and what is to follow
matter little when wrapped
in his sweet embrace.

I look once more
at the tyre marks in the snow.
They trace a journey of love,
they mark our path.

All that I have learnt
I share with him in silent prayer,
transparent is my advice
indelible my love.

Author's Note

Dara
Note, the word ‘Tyre’ is spelled as it would appear in countries like Australia and New Zealand. I like the quaintness of the spelling.

Understanding and loving another person, child, older or elder can be hard at times, but here you give and give, able to travel and think at a distance as if you were near joined at the cliched hip. You have always written with a generous pen or pencil, my friend. You truly give more than many. Thank you so much for sharing.

Yes, it was worth every mile. Thank you for your kind review. :-)
Such a sweet metaphor here. We can feel the love. And I love that spelling of "Tyre"---
I just changed Jimi Hendrix's lyrics in "Crosstown Traffic" to "Tyre tracks all across my back"----
We need more love to "replace the chill of a cold/ calcualating world."

Amid all our turmoil, this is so refreshing...
