In my Travels through the Forest of Bayonne

In my Travels through the Forest of Bayonne

A Poem by Patches I'm not so new anymore.
"

Dedicated to the lady of my heart, of my dreams! based on the Troubadour style.

"

In my travels through the forests of Bayonne.

In my evening sojourn beneath the candles of God

scattered acrost a sable sky, myriad points of light

prisimed through the dusky dew create faint fairy rainbows.

I seem to behold the untarnished silver of Artemis' nightdress.

As She spreads Her star-sequined cape o'er the shimmering

surface of this dew-dampt meadow. Freshets of cool my brow,

drive the menory of our last kiss to the forefront of my mind.

I stand in a visable darkness, arms upraised in supplacation

to Aphrodite. The wind teases, pulls at my hair---

Gazing heavenward, I catch a glimpse of thy gamin face

between the moon and fireflies, framed by hair red as glowing embers.

From the distance tender love words tickle my ears

As a traveling troubadour sigh songs of longing for his donna*

Slowly I realize that it is my voice.

As if in a dream I see thee before me, thine eys asparkle.

I reach to touch--- A tinkle of laughter touches my ear---

"Come j'et ami, come let us dance beneath the trees

 then out under the stars.

Let us sway to rhythems old as earth, as new as

our next dream---

*donna--- lady
