Skinned Knees

Skinned Knees

A Poem by Patches I'm not so new anymore.
"

A poem describing what should have been

"

You are part of me,

 I am part of you---

 Every strand of our beings

were meant to be woven together.

We are no longer young,

sometimes when the light is right

I notice tiny lines in your face.

Lines that define a woman

 of character,

of dignity, of grace.

Where were you?

 Where was I?

Why could we not have met

known each other

 before the road

forked...

became strewn with

rock-hard words

that tore our souls...

allowing love to seep

slowly into

the dirt of dispare.

Why were we destined to

travel pot-holed paths,

 to trip---

skin our hearts, our knees

before the road came together

 once again?

Life is full of dissappointments which often bring dispair and what should have been simply isn't in the cards often times~ deeply expressed emotions spring forth in this nicely penned piece

This is very powerful and beautiful. The sadness is very clear and it leaves a haunting feeling. A wonderful read that I'm glad I got to experience!
