Phoenix

Phoenix

A Poem by Sophie B.

Into existence I was born
In the fire, I was forged
Brick by brick I was built
Tragedy, suffering, things that would make others wilt

Each event a part of me
All part of my symphony
As things thrown together way too fast,
Cracks in the building that is me amassed

For sure one hit or a windstorm too many
It wouldn't take much to knock down, the opportunities are plenty
As they waited for my demise,
A stronger me began to rise

Turned to ashes, yes, I broke
What was left of me seemingly gone up in smoke
One can only crack so much
Until you tumble and burn with a simple touch

But don't throw my remains away just yet
Refrain from scattering the ashes of sunset
For steadily I prepare to ascend
I am the phoenix; I will revive again and again until the end
