Believing

Believing

A Poem by Aendraelyn Keibetsu

I believe in a lot of things.

I believe in the slide of metal against skin,

the drip of hot liquid life landing on the ground,

I believe in the cold air on a lonely winter night,

on a lonely winter night when you’re locked out of your home,

I believe in the pain,

when fists hit your unprotected body.

I believe in the sky,

when it opens up and cries when you cannot,

I believe in the snick of a knife,

when it unflicks to carve your flesh.

But what I do not believe in

What I do not believe in…

Is hope.
