such a calming scene you set, Pat .. we don't include ourselves and life styles into the Nature of things a lot of times .. but our homes do share warmth and provide shelter for our feathered friends without our giving it a second thought .. i also enjoy your words pointing toward coming spring and summer .. very pleasant read for me

This was just precious!! I love LOVE LOVE anything that has to do with our fine-feathered friends! Your profile photo lured me in and I'm so glad I found this beautiful piece.
This is wonderful, you create such beautiful imagery with feelings, memories so delicately. Love this.

I was briefly homeless, and a flock of starlings lived outside of the shelter I was staying at. Beautiful animals, though it's my understanding that they are often considered a nuisance akin to urban pigeons. A fine read!

You create such beautiful poems of nature dear Pat. Lovely memories of your grandparents farm here, providing shelter for our avian friends during winter snows. You bring the place back to the living with all its charm, its scent and its peacefulness. A treat to read .

I miss my grandparents too Pat. Learned so much from them.
Our feathered friends are very wise; they know where to find tier nutrition..... especially when the north wind blows and some white stuff on the ground.....other creature know where to find a bit of warmth in the frigid.....and perhaps a surprise of a newborn foal when the hint of spring rolls around.....so beautiful Pat... only you could paint these words!!!!
Warmly, B

They being almost selfishly expected, this is yet another wonderful 'Pat' poem, echoing memories of the past.
Our old barn finally collapsed which had the swallows shift location to beneath the eves of our house.
With it not only being Owl's yearning for spring it becomes almost a parental duty to feed the birds especially at this time of year with snow covering everything
Hope all is well

Your love for all things living surely comes from your darling grandparents, Pat! Your poem is a true tribute to them and -is beautiful. Bless your heart. Love to you and Roger, as ever always.
