This is such a beautifully romantic and vivid piece! The imagery of the Valentine cardinal, the warm light, and the hopeful spring atmosphere is stunning. Your writing feels gentle, poetic, and full of charm truly lovely work!
A special Valentine with a Cardinal landing on your feeder with its bright red coat...revealing to you that he is king of the roost watching over "fledglings that flutter about an orchard of fruit " and ultimately return to the nest...on this special day....lovely

Patricia,
They are among my favorite birds, and they mate for life. Many years ago, we lived in a two story house with two bedrooms upstairs and one down. I guess because we were young, we moved our sleeping quarters from one room to another every few months. One time, we were awakened by a tap tap tap at the window, and when we looked, there was cardinal waking us up. He did that every day unrill we moved across the hall, and we could still hear him over there, but then, the next thing you know, there he was at our new location... followed us down stairs, too. It wasn't his reflection in the glass like we thought at first... he just liked his peeping Tom role.

I can't wait for spring when all the bugs get busy amongst the flowers and trees. The extreme cold has lost its charm on me.
I especially love the picture you used. Good stuff man.

It really is amazing how they see the world, and why these flowers look the way they do... it's an amazing evolutionary dance plants and insects get down with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1TUDFCOwjY
