Sad SongA Poem by Paul BellI had this great dream last night. Dreamt I was in bed with this beautiful blond woman. You were, I just spoke to her going down your path. She said, she probably wouldn’t be calling you, ever. Hate that. Anyway, hows the song going. More to the point is it sad. I’m not sure, I don’t do sad stuff. Give me a few lines, I’ll be the judge. Okay, how does this sound? She leads me down the road Turns around, and says that she’s not sure anymore Sometimes things go wrong People change Nothing stays the same. Hows that so far. Yeah, that’s a bit sad. Go on. If only you could see Hiding in the dark won’t bring us back It only causes pain Something that will always remain. Is that real tears. No, there’s something in my eye, is there more. Yeah, but I’m not sure I can go on now. No, go on. It’s better that you go now Turn another corner Change your name Nothing stays the same Tears for yesterday will still remain But tomorrow will ease the pain. You’re right, I could never sing that. Jesus, it’s brutal. Well, I did tell you I’m not good at sad. Would you like a hanky for that thing in your eye? © 2018 Paul BellReviews
