Let me forget those sable eyes Smiling through Dunhill smoke rings That silken voice that soothed Those patent leather shoes that whisked me Through that star-lit night of not so long ago. Let me forget those scarred times That hold a strange power over me
Your poem reminds me to be thankful for all those magical moments lost to time, becuz that's the cornucopia of ideas & feelings that we writers dip into for our fodder! You bring this alive as if we were there, too (((HUGS)))

Many thanks barleygirl, glad you enjoyed the read.
It sounds dear Pauline, that you still suffer for what might have been? I think we all look back and reflect from time to time on near misses. Lucky for me, mine don't hurt. The sting has gone. Wistful poetry.

Doesn't matter what it is, so called love, health issues etc., and as Brian said, you have to "Always look on the bright side of life de dum." Develop a sense of humour like you have.
Incidentally, I just made the poem up.
Enjoy your day.

I've been writing poetry for some time now. It allows me to escape some of the doldrums of life. I also paint when life allows me some quiet time.
I wouldn't say I was great at either passtimes but I.. more..
