Oh how I loved those blessed get togethers

With their background music

Idle chit-chat and laughter

The clink of fluted glasses

The crackle and flame of a burning log

And a stranger's gaze totally besotted.

I am terse...the word terse has a bad connotation.... it simply means straight to the point....this poem is gorgeous... I write short poems too...omg this poem captures my imagination... I know that feeling when you notice someone is looking at you intently and there are endless possibilities in that person...I married a girl who looking at me like that...she was a doll....wow you make me think!...have a sweet day Pauline

In France a lot of the foreigners do the rounds with plenty of chinking and clinking, especially in the villages where the night life is sparse.

these kind of parties worked for me, since I am not a party lover.
But it would seem sometimes that gaze would be mutual, and then the conversation would go deep into the morning...and some flirting along with it.
would go home with a smile.

Well sometimes Jeff, you just have to get straight to the point don't you? In some cases, there's no point in all that flannel when a few words will do the trick.But to be honest, I was a little empty headed yesterday. (Not unusual) Maybe that's why I enjoy Haiku so much, three lines tops.
You were very lucky to marry someone who adored you. Not everyone is that fortunate.
