ShadowsA Poem by Peggy Olson It..it...is not enough. To relive the shadowed memories of your voice. Or inhale your fleeting scent from an inked sheet. Crowds of strangers and I look for you. The slightest mimicry An imitation of the shape of your eyes. An imitation of your skin on every other lover. There is no authenticity in the search. So every night he sets fire to his stomach And leaves with brown hair and blue eyes and pink lips Staggering into a room or the outside Or nowhere and he remains frozen. There is you Your shadow in a corner There is you..your Past phrases into forever relived moments There is you Even with an initial Like you had never been gone For a second or two you were never gone I turn around To share a laugh But you'd just left © 2019 Peggy OlsonReviews
