Flying south over night

They come in there well known v formation 

Now it it daylight

each group is making for much used sites alongside lakes which have been used for years 

a few will settle here over winter

others will spread further south to Morocco

Birds in flight. Love watching those formations Peter. You paint a picture with your words here. I frequently watch the take off by geese and swans on our rivers. And the noise, they are often so noisy. Thank you for sharing. Always a source of wonder, the distance they cover and their navigation.
