To my wife

To my wife

A Poem by petec3638

love poem

"

To my wife

We are getting older, dear

We are not as spritely as we were

I will make you a promise

To care for you as long as I can.

Well dearest my skills became insufficient

The time has come for me

To hand over to others

For them to take care of you.

I do love you

My skill now will be to sit by your side

To hold your hand

And give you drinks.

Mop your brow

Say that I do love you

Just as much

May be even more.

The young active girl

Will live on in my head and heart

In the morning and in the evening

I will remember you.

Until the day that join with you

At the ‘Innominate Tarn’

On the Buttermere Fells

That is quite the road now many of us are on and have been on. Much touched.

Everything seems to be a fight these days! Glad you prevailed. 🙏🕊️
She was loved to the moon and back and still is. You did all you could for her. Your words are incredibly moving and sincere Peter. Look after yourself while you grieve.

You were with her right to the end, so fitting. 🌹
This did tear me... it spoke to all the ghostlets of my forevermores. Blessed Be.

This reminds me of my dad and how he was with my mom. And I remember a conversation we had in which he broke down because he did not feel he could take care of her anymore. He was devastated.
Intense sadness hit me here.
