Break the ChangeA Poem by Tomislav PetricevicBe true to yourself, not other people. My arms are stretched into the sky, My body's weight lifted up high, In irrelevant matters I no longer pry, As I did not want anymore from inside to die.
They told me to adapt, to become like them, Because that would make my life shine like a gem, And I started listening, not aware of the phlegm, Not aware of their purpose - my mind to condemn.
I did what I was told, blended in with the crowd, Haven't spoken a word, haven't spoken out loud, But lonely walks down the street with my head down bowed Made me realize I was a weirdo to myself, for not feeling proud.
So once again I BREAK these cold chains of captivity, Let my soul wander far in planes of creativity, Make me find the state of utter progressivity, As I push away any form of forced-into activity.
My arms are stretched into the sky, As I no longer wonder why I am different than them - that I can't deny, But no longer living with one closed eye. © 2012 Tomislav PetricevicAuthor's Note
