Unfinished Dream

Unfinished Dream
 
I awaken from a dream world
of symbols & situations
 I want to run back
 to that warm climate but listen
 to the effervescence of birds
 tuning up to a froth
 The hallway is just a short
 walk to a window

 Outside, the leaves demonstrate
 how to dance a chilled breeze
 There is nothing warm until
 I hit switches, turn dials,
 shift the skillet to medium
 It is all familiar, but the dream
 remains in low diction
 uninterpretable but clinging
 somewhere in the maze
 of this regular morning
