outlasting winter

 

Let the Kokopelli trees bend
and blow their fluted limbs
into their tangled feet, where I will sit -
A heavy leaf clinging in the autumn wind.
I am outlasting the winter blizzard,
still tangible on the sleeves of trees.
I must maintain toward a spring breeze.
and only give way when the sun opens
a yellow carrousel above my head
where my hair explodes in wild stands
