Los Niños en el Zócalo

Los Niños en el Zócalo

A Poem by Phillip Wolke

Is this a close translation....?

They are playing in the center and at this moment
All the energy you have is focused on this moment.
It's funny how their minds think only in the moment,
How when they are playing for a little while they only process a little bit.
Always what happens in front but never behind,
This action counts for a second.
So they keep playing and it seems like a while
But it's incredible how in this little second it always goes by like a little while.

This was the moment.

.............

I love reading poetry in other languages, in situ. There is so much to be learned by expressing the inarticulate with different languages. The medicine of language has no flavor... just good taste when done properly... with great potential for more.

I'm glad it inspired something, I usually just write the poem and forget I wrote it.
